FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

John Manley

Effective immediately, I have accepted the position as Executive Director of the Professional Karate Commission (PKC). Since my teacher, Mr. Keeney passed, I have thought about what I could do to help preserve his legacy and help move the PKC forward consistent with Mr. Keeney’s vision of further developing the art, building strong community leaders, teaching the next generation of young people, and helping make the world a better place. I have thought long and hard about accepting this position given the time and effort that the position will require. I have spoken with my family and after reflection I am ready to assume this role to lead the PKC and its dedicated and loyal following of regional directors, tournament promoters, teachers, competitors, and parents consistent with Mr. Keeney’s vision. I know that this will be a challenging endeavor as I am following in the footsteps of a giant.

I traveled with Mr. Keeney in the late 1980s and 1990s and observed his efforts to build the PKC. Through his hard work, respect for others, and charisma, Mr. Keeney built the PKC into a great association of martial artists/people recognized around the world. Moving forward, to further Mr. Keeney’s vision, modernization and change are needed. Mr. Keeney always told me “..change or perish…” I will not let the PKC perish. Together we will change and move forward and become better. I can not do this alone. I am asking for your help in making sure the PKC rises to its rightful spot at the top of the karate/kickboxing world. I know that we can do this together in a cooperative manner beneficial to all involved. I look forward to this journey with all of you. Keep training and I will see you soon!

Yours in Karate-do.
